Protocol: Review of your dental and medical history, discussion of any sensitivity or gum concerns, assessment of the teeth and gums, and evaluation of plaque, biofilm, staining, and calculus buildup. AIRFLOW® technology uses a controlled stream of air, warm water, and fine powder to gently remove bacterial biofilm and surface stains with less reliance on traditional scraping. Additional instrumentation may be used when clinically necessary. The teeth are polished as appropriate, and personalized home-care recommendations are provided.

How is AIRFLOW® cleaning different from a traditional dental cleaning? AIRFLOW® uses a controlled stream of air, warm water, and fine powder to remove bacterial biofilm and surface stains. This reduces the need for extensive scraping and can provide a more comfortable cleaning experience.
Will traditional dental instruments still be used during my cleaning? Possibly. AIRFLOW® removes biofilm and staining effectively, but hand instruments or ultrasonic equipment may still be required to remove hardened calculus in certain areas.
Can existing dental work be checked during the exam? Yes. Fillings, crowns, bridges, implants, veneers, and other restorations are evaluated as part of the examination to help ensure they remain in good condition.
Is AIRFLOW® suitable for sensitive teeth or gums? Yes. The system is designed to provide a gentle cleaning experience and may be particularly helpful for patients with sensitivity or discomfort during conventional cleaning. Your hygienist can adjust the treatment according to your needs.
Can my gums still bleed during the cleaning? Inflamed gums may bleed when plaque and bacteria are removed. Bleeding is generally related to existing gum inflammation rather than the AIRFLOW® treatment itself and often improves as gum health improves.
Can AIRFLOW® be used around implants, crowns, veneers, or braces Yes. AIRFLOW® can be used to clean around many dental restorations, implants, and orthodontic appliances. The cleaning approach is adjusted according to the surfaces being treated.
